Welcome to Savers thrift store! Last month I was approached by the Savers thrift team for an exciting opportunity. Just like my Primark experience (click to view post), I previewed the store before it’s grand opening. Not only that, but a styling session was to be included in the trip as well! This is so exciting for me because as much as I love to shop, I love styling people. This styling session was for WOGL’s Valerie Knight!
Whenever I style a client, I ask a number of questions to get an idea of their style. Nothing is worse than having a stylist that does not listen to you and you end up hating your look. Valerie made it clear to me that she likes to keep it casual. Her ideal look: t-shirt and jeans. Since we were pressed for time, I had her pick out some items she liked, usually I do all the choosing. I then scoured through the racks to find finishing pieces.
Viola! Here is the look that I came up with. Valerie was comfortable and loved the outfit and that’s all that matters. It wasn’t something that she would typically choose for herself but she embraced it. That’s the thing about styling, you have to step a little outside your comfort zone. As you can see we stayed true to her sense of style. I chose a fitted pair of skinny jeans. Style tip: choose a darker wash for a slimming look. She’s wearing a ribbed t-shirt/sweater top. I added a cool vest (which she loved) and statement necklace to add some fun to the look. Complete with a pair of really comfortable mules with a pop of color and there you have it. Style tip: get your hands on a pair of mules. They are super hot for Fall!
The one thing I loved about this experience was the saying on the wall. “A better world through reuse.” It’s great to be trendy and have new things but some of the greatest treasures can be found in a thrift store. I walked out with a new Louis Vuitton purse and flute!
