The proposal. One of the most important moments in a woman’s/man’s life. The one question besides have we set a date yet is how did he do it? I will say, no we do not have pictures of the moment when it happened. We also don’t have pictures after it happened. Why? Sheldon made a great point to me.
Originally he was going to propose during this post. As I said, he was being weird trying to get “the shot”. He was thinking to do it while setting up the self-timer or to video it but then decided not to. His reasoning? We give so much of ourselves and share so much with the world that this was just for “us.” I love that. As a
millennial, social media influencer, blogger, everything is publicized. I love Sheldon for his support in me wanting to pursue what I love. This was the one thing if we have nothing else that was our moment. Enough of that.
It started with a snail. Back story. First we had dinner at Zen which was this delicious Japanese hibachi style restaurant. After that, we made our way to the Social Bar which is where we ended up every night. One of the entertainment people asked if I wanted to do karaoke. Of course I responded with “YOLO”. My songs of choice: Stevie Wonder “Do I Do” and Bruno Mars “24K Magic.” After that we walked back to the room.
I have an obsession with animals and creatures. There was a snail on the ground in front of our building. I got giddy because I never see snails back home, only slugs. I bend down to take pictures of the snail with my camera. Meanwhile Sheldon is also down but I’m thinking he’s looking at the snail with me. I go to take a picture of the snail and it freezes. I feel bad and say “Aww he’s camera shy.” At this point Sheldon is on one knee (I have no idea) and he says “Well I’m camera shy too but I was wondering if you would marry me?” Confused, I stop everything I’m doing and say “what?”
He pulls the ring out and says “Baby will you marry me?” My right hand is in his hand and tries to put the ring on the wrong hand. He hates that I tell people that but I think it’s cute. We laugh, I cry a little and of course I say “yes!” Then he makes sure that I know that he has already asked my dad. I waited until the next day to post anything on social media. Sheldon was so excited and told everyone right away. We made an unintentional funny announcement video for Facebook.
