Vida Fashionista’s Miami Weekend Guide

If you are ever in the market for a weekend vacay, here’s my Miami Weekend Guide! This is no where near what could be done while in Miami for a weekend so I’m sharing my personal experience.

Where we stayed:

We stayed at the Marseilles Hotel (pronounced MAR-says). Located on 17th and Collins Avenue it’s at the heart of South Beach. The location could not have been more perfect. The best part was that the hotel is located just steps away from the beach.Vida Fashionista Vida FashionistaVida Fashionista

There are so many great outdoor spots for lounging. Besides the obvious beds and hammocks, you could also rent out private cabanas located in the above pictures behind those white curtains. Let’s not forget about happy hour!!! Everyday from 6-7 pm was a free happy hour for hotel guests at the outside bar. We even braved the rain for happy hour.

What to do:

The possibilities are literally endless whenever you go to Miami. I went around the same time two years ago and it was a completely different experience this time around. Since I was there for a bachelorette party, we did more things that were centered around and for the bachelorette.

Wet Willies

If you ever get to South Beach, Wet Willies is a touristy must go to place. There are about 18 different flavors of frozen daiquiris. For the non-drinkers there is even a non-alcoholic flavor called a “Weak Willie”.

And if you’ve ever wondered what the rapper Pitbull is talking about when he says “Calle Ocho”…this is where Wet Willies is located. It’s actually a big party strip. On my last Miami trip I went to The Clevelander which is up the street from Wet Willies.

Go to the beach (duh).

I live in Philly so my only option for beaches are not warm, blue waters. The beaches in Miami are ridiculous! The water is so blue and warm! It was such an added bonus that the beach was right behind our hotel so we just waked right out to it.

Clubs/Day Parties

The first night we went to Segafredo which is in Brickell so it was a 25 minute uber ride from where we stayed. It’s like a restaurant and lounge.

The second night we went to Icon which was about a 10 minute ride from the hotel. Such a fun nightclub.

This time around we didn’t go to any day parties since we had the beach, but I recommend SLS hotel.

Where we ate:

We kept it super simple and stayed close to the hotel for food. When I say close I mean we either ate at the hotel or somewhere across the street. The first day we had lunch at the hotel and I got the most delicious chicken caesar wrap with french fries. For dinner that night, we went across the street to Maxine’s Bistro and I ordered the burger sliders. On our second day we had Maxine’s for breakfast with mimosas and for dinner we ate sushi at FKU Sushi Bar. I ordered my “go to” which is salmon rolls and they were delicious! For eating a little further afield, Francisca was recommended to us for great Latin American cuisine!

What I wore:

Can y’all give me a virtual high five for only packing 1 carry on bag!!! I didn’t even know that was possible for me but thank goodness summer clothing doesn’t take up much room.

Miami Weekend Guide

This is my travel outfit. My long cardigan that I wore for the plane ride is in my suitcase. Looking cute is great and all but it’s all about being comfortable (and warm). I always try to travel in jeans, leggings or a jumpsuit. Even when traveling to warmer places, I have to wear pants of some sort because I freeze on the plane. It’s so uncomfortable for me to be cold even if I pack a blanket. Last thing, proper footwear. Sandals, slip on sneakers…something flat and easy to get on and off are my best friends.
