Travel Guide: Baltimore Maryland

First Wedding Anniversary Trip

I can’t believe it’s been two weeks already but I’m finally sharing my Baltimore Maryland travel guide! Even though we only went for the weekend I think we got lots of site seeing, eating and more in. Plus, I packed a ton of outfits lol. Here’s everything you need to know about what we did in “Charm City”.

Getting to Baltimore

Baltimore is only about an hour and a half from Philly. We packed up our Lexus for the weekend and made the trip down there. We kept on saying we can’t believe how close it is and that we need to go more often. You could also take the bus, I would recommend the MegaBus or the train. You may also want to consider a charter bus rental Maryland as a great way of doing a bit of sightseeing during your city getaway; it’s convenient, as they will pick you up at your front door, and also comfortable too. Amtrak will probably get you here in an hour.

Where We Stayed

ROYAL SONESTA HARBOR COURT

Sonesta Royal Harbor Court Baltimore Review

I really don’t think I could rave about the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court in Baltimore any more than I already have been lol. I talked a little about the hotel in this post. By the way, look out for my review of the hotel on Thursday or Friday. Anyway, this hotel is in the most prime location if you are looking to visit the harbor. Our room had amazing harbor views and we were only an easy 10 minute walk to the National Aquarium. The location was so convenient, we only took the car out once to get food and explore around Baltimore.

Things To Do

NATIONAL AQUARIUM

It’s been forever since I last came to the National Aquarium. Let’s just say that it does not disappoint. I was so overwhelmed and distracted by everything! Sheldon needs to keep me on a leash next time lol. Anyway, the aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in the United States.

BALTIMORE WATERFRONT

First Wedding Anniversary Trip

The Baltimore waterfront is full of shops, dining, and other services like water taxis and more. Sheldon and I kept comparing it to Penn’s Landing in Philly but way bigger and busier. Here are a couple of business lined up in the harbor waterfront:

  • Baltimore Aquarium
  • Spirit of Baltimore
  • Banana Republic
  • Unos, Cheesecake Factory, Phillips’
  • H&M
  • Water Taxi’s

Shopping

THE GALLERY – the gallery is basically a shopping mall. It’s home to stores like Forever 21, Victoria’s Secret, Pandora, Bath & Body Works, Francesca’s and more!

OTHER STAND ALONE STORES – Staying in the inner harbor was any shoppers dreams. Not only is The Gallery there but there are also stores like Marshall’s, Banana Republic, and I’m pretty sure I saw a T.J. Maxx.

Where To Eat

EXPLORERS LOUNGE

For our first night we actually ate dinner at the lounge in the Sonesta called Explorers Lounge. I got fresh corn and crab chowder, salmon with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. Sheldon got the crab flatbread with a side of French fries.

WOODY’S CANTINA

I feel like Sheldon and I will always find a Mexican restaurant no matter where we go. We went to this restaurant as a recommendation from a friend. As soon as she said they have bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marie’s I was like “Sign me up!!!!” Haha. There are too many things that you can do with brunch. Honestly I’m basic and always order the same thing: eggs, bacon, and potatoes with onions and peppers. Sheldon ordered French toast.

UNO’S CHICAGO BAR & GRILLE

Funny that we ended up eating here for dinner on our second night. I worked for Uno’s back in college and even after graduating. We didn’t want to spend too much money eating and Uno’s is so reasonably priced. If you’ve never been, one of my favorite things to order (besides the pizza) is the honey crisp chicken salad!

IN-ROOM DINING

For our last meal we got breakfast in bed with the in-room dining service at the Sonesta. Most of the time I am super basic when it comes to ordering breakfast. You can never go wrong with eggs, bacon and potatoes. By the way, I don’t usually do toast but they have this amazing raspberry jam!!!

Have any of you ever been to Baltimore Maryland? We had such a lovely time and can’t wait to plan our next trip!
