This video has been highly requested and it’s my deep condition routine. As always, I do a corresponding blog post with the video in case you miss some things. Let’s discuss the key frequently asked questions first.
Why should we deep condition our hair?
Deep conditioning re-hydrates and promotes strong, healthy, soft hair. It also promotes less breakage which leads to growth.
How often should you deep condition your hair?
There is no right or wrong answer to this. It totally depends on your hair. Personally, I deep condition my hair once a week for up to two hours. You should at least do it for 30 minutes. I know when it’s time to deep condition my hair when it starts to tangle easily and feels dry or brittle. I’ll also start noticing that my hair has more frizz than “normal”.
What products do you use to deep condition your hair?
I ALWAYS use the Cantu Deep Treatment Masque. I love the consistency of it, it’s nice and thick. The other product I use is the Shea Moisture Strengthen, Grow and Restore Deep Treatment Masque. I like to have this one as a back up but I think it’s too watery for my hair.
This part isn’t included in the video but I will tell and encourage people to educate themselves on their own hair. I know so many people that go “by the book” of what other people use but you can’t do that. Test different products out, don’t be a “product junkie” and stick with it. Having natural hair is work but so worth it in the end when you start to see results. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below.
