DIY Flocked Christmas Tree

Hey everyone!  Today is day 2 of my Holiday Mag and I’m sharing it with this DIY Flocked Christmas Tree blog post!  I’m also flocking my wreath as well.  Basically a flocked Christmas tree is one that looks like it has snow.  Typically these trees are more expensive than the regular ones and very messy.  As a way to avoid the extra costs, cuz I’m all about saving some money, I found a way to flock my own tree!  All you will need is a standard Christmas tree (doesn’t matter the size, preferably artifical trees) and this spray.

The first step, if you have a fake tree, would be to take the tree apart.  Take the tree outside to spray it.  Be sure that when you spray the tree you don’t spray it directly on to the branches.  Keep spraying until you get the desired look that you are going for.  Typically this process will use up about 1-2 bottles of this spray.

Once you have achieved the snowy look that you want, leave the tree outside to dry.  I think I left my tree out for half an hour or so.  The spray bottle probably tells you how long it should take to dry.  Once the tree is dry you can put it back in your house.  Be careful because just like a regular flocked tree, the spray is and can be just as messy.  It will flake off a bit so don’t be alarmed.  Put the tree back together and there you have it!

Here is a shot of my wreath.  Just repeat the same steps that you used for the tree.  My wreath had some original flocking to it already so I just touched it up.

Also, take note that while putting on your tree lights, ornaments and decorations that the tree will flake.  This is perfectly fine.  Once you are done decorating your tree, you can always touch up the branches by lightly spraying them if you want.  If you try this I would love to see how your tree turns out.
