I’ve already done a post teaching how to layer. Today I’m teaching about proportion control. Showing you how to dump the frump or look less bulky when wearing your every day outfits. I have 3 tips and some examples to help you get a better understanding.
1. Balance looser fitting tops with slim bottoms and vice versa. (No one looks good drowning in fabric or in all around tightness)
Don’t
Avoid wearing a baggy, loose top and loose bottoms. It will make you look heavier than you actually are.
Do
Here I’ve worn a looser top but it doesn’t look bulky because of the tighter bottoms. (Sweaters with jeans or tights look great together but make sure the sweater hem comes past your butt and make sure it is loose)
2. Pair short with long and long with short. (A longer jacket, coat, tunic etc. looks best when paired with a shorter hem…NOT A MAXI).
Don’t
Do
Style tip: If wearing a maxi, wear a shorter top or crop top
3. Create an instant hour glass. Cinch your waist with a belt. (Easiest way to create curves and add an instant shape. Also, it’s the only flattering way to pull off volume on the top and bottom)
I hope this helps. If you have any questions or comments, sound off below!
