Vida Fashionista’s Guide To Holiday Shopping
Oh the joys of holiday shopping. I know just thinking about it is making you break out in hives and think of working overtime. It really doesn’t have to be so hard and stressful though. Here are some helpful hints and tricks of the trade to help ease your holiday shopping:
1. “Black Thursday.” This is a new phenomenon that has popped up in the last year or 2. What happens is many stores will now open at 8pm on Thanksgiving. They won’t offer some of the sales that they would normally have on Black Friday but they offer many “early bird’ type specials. I’ve been successful with this the last 2 years only because it wasn’t a “thing” but now that I’ve given you the scoop, it will probably be more popular this year.
2. Black Friday. Probably the most overrated shopping day of the year! Once you learn to accept this truth, you will be much happier lol. Not to discredit Black Friday shopping all together but face it, we can’t all be first in line at Best Buy or major department stores. We also don’t want to camp out in front of a store for hours. The people that are lucky enough to get there in time definitely reap the benefits but I don’t think it’s worth it to jeopardize your safety.
3. Cyber Monday. This is the best time to shop around Thanksgiving time. The best part is that since the discounts are online, you can get those Black Friday sales and more from the safety of your own home and spend more time with family (if you choose).
4. The day AFTER Christmas. There is always so much hype leading up to a holiday that everyone forgets about shopping after the holiday. Set aside some “after a holiday” money. Not statistically speaking but I would guess that the day after Christmas would be one of the highest “returned items” day of the year. What does that mean for you? That item that sold out could get returned and marked down because it wasn’t the right gift for a person.
5. Shop during the Change of Seasons/Out of Season. I know that no one (myself included) wants to buy sweaters in the summer and shorts or bikinis in the winter BUT there is a huge pay off to doing so. A sweater that you have been coveting over in the winter time will possible go on sale up to 80% off in some stores if you buy it in the opposite season. Of course, these items won’t always be ones that you’ve had your eye on because they may be gone at this point, but you never know.
Once again, this list is all from my past personal shopping experiences around the holiday time. I’m hoping this information is helpful and creates better shopping experiences for y’all. Let me know how it goes!
