I hold this topic near and dear to my heart. Whether you are African American, Dominican, Indian, Italian, or any person with a darker skin complexion, I’m sure you’ve thought about this before and the struggle is so real.
If you follow my Instagram, I recently put up a picture commending Christian Louboutin for his “nude” collection. Now the real question is, “What took so long?”
As a dancer, I always joke around (but am always serious) with my girlfriends when it comes time for performances and we need to wear a “nude” bra or when I was at my dance studio and we had to wear a “nude” leotard. I’m sorry but has anyone looked at me lately…your nude is not my nude, so the question is, “Is it really nude?” And to add to that, I always would get frustrated if I had a blister or cut and needed a band aid. They never match my skin color! Even the clear ones don’t blend.
Apparently there has finally been an answer to my prayers because a London woman named Ade Hassan has come up with a line called “Nubian Skin” that offers a range of shades for all skin tones! Now lets incorporate this in the dance world and then we’ll be talking!!!
