Finally getting around to sharing my living room tour today!!! This post has been a long time coming and I still wasn’t 100% sure that I wanted to share yet as we are still looking into the shutters from https://www.shuttercraft-warwick.co.uk/. As bloggers/influencers, we put so much pressure on ourselves for things to be perfect and I didn’t want to “let anyone down” with my reveal lol. Sounds crazy, but it’s true. At the end of the day, I absolutely LOVE the way everything looks and you will too.
Entryway
When you first walk to the house, on the outside is a normal welcome mat that says “Welcome.” When you come into the house, I have my hilariously true welcome mat that says, “Please hide packages from husband.” Just a little humor especially because as a blogger I get a ton of PR packages. Unlike my entryway decor post, ours is actually to the right when you walk in the door. I have a console table, storage baskets, plants and a “hello” sign.
Living Space
The reason I was hesitant to share this post is because there are still things I would like to add to the living space. This has been a long process as we feel like we’ve reached an age where we have to decide where we want to settle down and fairly recently a friend of mine decided to move down under. She found her dream first home at New Sensation Homes. The news kind of got in the way of me decorating but I would definitely like to add 2 chairs in the entryway space facing the couches because the pathway is quite wide. Right now it’s kind of dead space but keeps the living room feeling spacious. Plus, our house gets the most amazing natural light during the day. Literally almost all day long the light looks amazing, hence why I love shooting indoors now.
One of my favorite features of our living room is our floating bookshelves. These were handmade and cut by Sheldon when we had our apartment makeover with Lowe’s. The wall that they are on is actually a brick wall so I had to get my dad’s help (he’s a carpenter) to put them up. He had all the right tools. We decided to leave repainting this wall for the time being, but we will most likely call up the very best Ottawa Painters for the job in the future! Before finding out the wall is brick, I wanted to do a gallery wall of wedding photos. The floating shelves will do. I do want a ladder in the space by the lamp on the right and either drape blankets on it or showcase some photos.
Unlike many bloggers I see with white EVERYTHING, I wanted to keep the colors warm but also light. I love the contrast of our brown couches with the whites and blacks and then greenery for the pop of color.
French Farmhouse Accents
Our space is completely different from when we lived in our apartment. I would say the style was much more eclectic. With this house, I really wanted to feel cozy and chic. My family is from down south and I love those antique, rustic accents. Throughout our home you will see lots of baskets for storage, window pane mirrors (my favorite), galvanized buckets, wood accents and more.
That’s it for my living room tour. I really hope it brings some decor inspo to you all if you need some. I’m obsessed with the space, it feels so good and anything that I add to the space will make it that much better.
