I don’t think y’all understand the excitement that I have as I type this. We are just THREE days away from our trip ahhhhh!!! Our Magic Bands just came in and I just want to explain how they work and what they do. Long gone are the days of needing to carry your wallet and paper tickets with you. Now you can have everything on your wrist.
In last week’s post I talked about the Disney World App. These bands work hand-in-hand with the app. To get your bands “activated” you just open your Disney World App and select “link to account.” There is an option for you to link your Magic Bands or card. Once you select that option you are prompted to enter the ID code. The ID code is on the back of the Magic Band. Click submit and your band is now linked to your account.
From there, be sure to add your tickets and your debit/credit card information. All of this information will be connected to the band. That’s it! Here are some frequently asked questions about Magic Bands.
Who is eligible for Magic Bands?
ANYONE that is visiting the four Disney Theme Parks, waterparks, hotels and shops.
How much do they cost?
The cost ranges from $14.99 (for the solid ones) up to $48 (Dooney & Bourke designer).
Where do I buy them?
As far as I know they can only be purchased at the Shop Disney online store. They are not sold at the Disney Store. Just search for ‘Magic Bands’.
Do they replace park tickets?
Yes. This is the most convenient feature of the bands. No need to worry about losing your park tickets anymore. At the park gates just simply raise your wrist to the reader and you are good!
How to they work with Fast Pass+?
Just as simply as everything is. In the Disney World App is where you will purchase your tickets, book your fast passes, book your dining, link your your card and bands etc. Once everything is set up in the app it should be a seamless transition to your bands.
How do they work as your room key?
We are not staying at a Disney property so we don’t have to worry about this. If you are, a simple swipe of your band should open your room door.
I think that about covers everything regarding the bands. I’m sure I can think of some more questions but if you have any let me know in the comments!
