The first day of touring China started off with going to the Forbidden City.

What is the Forbidden City you ask?

The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty. It is located in the center of Beijing, China, and now houses the Palace Museum. It served as the home of emperors and their households as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government for almost 500 years. (wikipedia)

Traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony

Longer cup for smelling tea, shorter cup for tasting

The end of the day concluded with a traditional chinese tea ceremony.  I was taught how to properly hold a tea cup to show others that I am a dainty, elegant lady.   I was also shown how men hold the tea cups.
