With winter under way and after having our first snow, let’s talk winter investments.  Even though it was freezing when I took these photos, I wasn’t cold!  Then I thought about it.  I’m dressed warm, layered up properly and have on quality items.  There are a couple of things that you just can’t skimp out on when it comes to the cold.  I hate cold weather but I also made sure to invest in the proper clothing.  Two things that you should/must invest in: a great coat and pair of boots.  Everything else isn’t as essential as these two.

Coat

I bought this coat almost 3 years ago now for a New Years Eve trip to New York City.  Knowing how cold it is in the winter in New York and the potential of us walking a lot led me to pull the trigger.  It was probably the best decision I could have made.

Boots

God bless T.J. Maxx and their gift cards.  I got these Storm boots also almost 3 years ago for the New York trip.  They are very similar to Sorel boots.  When I was looking for a pair of snow boots I wanted them to be waterproof and insulated.  That’s exactly what I love about them.  They mark off everything on my checklist.  Not to mention they are super cute with the fur lining.  The inside of them is so warm that when I’m inside I have to take them off after a while.  My feet start to sweat (TMI) but they are made for outside so they do the trick.

Other items to consider:

  • Hat
  • Scarf
  • Gloves (preferably thermal touch)
  • Ear Muffs – perfect for my curly hair girls.  Hats can look a little funny when your hair is super curly
