Hilton Head Travel Guide

Hilton Head Travel Guide

Finally a long overdue Hilton Head Travel Guide! I’ve been coming here my whole life, more in the recent years and didn’t realize I never made a travel guide. Thanks to all of your input and questions on Instagram I put this guide together for you.

Hilton Head Island is a small island located off of Hilton Head. It’s about 2 hours from Charleston if that helps you reference location.

I’m going to start this post off linking all of the outfits I wore for the trip. Keep scrolling to see my travel guide.

How To Get To Hilton Head

To get to Hilton Head you can either fly or drive. My family always drives (I know, we are crazy). It’s about a 12 hour drive from Coatesville, PA which is 45 minutes west of Philly. The flight on the other hand is super quick from Philly. You can either fly into Hilton Head but it’s more expensive or you also have the option of flying into Savannah, Georgia which is only a 45 minute drive from Hilton Head.

Where to Stay

I’ve stayed at a couple of different places while in Hilton Head. I’ll start with the first and then onto places I’ve stayed more recently. Keep in mind that I have family there so sometimes it’s easy for us to just stay with them. There are also a ton of other hotels, resorts and villas on the island that you can stay at. Really it all depends on your budget.

Marriott – We stayed here a few years ago and it was great. Its also steps off of the beach which is nice and the hotel has its own beach access.

Sonesta Hilton Head – I actually have a post about my stay at the Sonesta Hilton Head. It was fantastic! Just like the Marriott, Sonesta also has its own beach access.

Spinnaker Resorts – they have two locations in Hilton Head. There is the Bluewater Marina and Waterside.

Where to Eat

GT International Cafe – This was a new one for us on this trip but did not disappoint.

Stack’s – This is usually our old faithful, go to restaurant. Since I was putting this guide together I made a point to actually bot go to Stack’s on this visit.

Hilton Head Diner – we are here last year because Stack’s is only open for breakfast.

Longhorn Steakhouse – There are different places to eat located in and around the outlets. We ate here one day for lunch.

The Crazy Crab – there are actually two locations on the island. The one is when you are coming into Hilton Head on 278 William Hilton Parkway and the other is in Harbour Town. The vibe of both locations is very different. The location on the parkway is more of a hangout spot whereas the Harbour Town location is more family friendly and touristy.

What to Do

Visit the beach – so many of you asked for beach recommendations. You don’t necessarily come to Hilton Head for the beach but there are plenty.

Coligny Beach Park

This trip we visited Coligny Beach Park and wow, to say we loved it is an understatement! We arrived around 10:30a. My cousins said that was early but it was perfect because we were able to rent chairs and an umbrella. Apparently everyone else has the same idea because there was a good amount of people that arrived when we did. It was very family friendly, lots of families were there.

Harbour Town

  • Visit the lighthouse
  • Go shopping
  • Lots of places to eat
  • Book a pirate cruise

Go shopping: Mine and my mom’s personal favorite is the Tanger Outlets. They are right there for ya on the island and they have lots of great stores. Visit their website here to take a look at the directory. There are also other shopping centers located throughout the island. Trust me, there are great shops and something for everyone of every price point.

Miniature Golf: Hilton Head is known for tennis and golf. Along with all of the golf courses you will see lots of places for miniature golf aka putt putt. We actually ran out of time but our usually place we go to is Big Kahuna’s. Luckily where we stay has a miniature golf course. By the way, I got a hole in one on the first hole.

Hilton Head Travel Guide

Book a Dolphin Cruise: There are a ton of dolphin cruises that you can book. Believe it or not there are lots of dolphins on the island and apparently they have no predators in this water. One of the only locations that they are ”safe”. I think that’s what our guide said when we went on the tour.

As always we had a fantastic time. I wish Sheldon was able to come on this trip but definitely next year. Baby boy will be here too! If you’ve ever been to Hilton Head, let me know if there is a favorite place of yours that I missed. Also, if you plan on visiting any time toon, let me know if I missed a specific recommendation for you.
