Good morning! I can’t believe we are at the “unofficial end of Summer.” I’m in complete denial since it’s still clearly Summer but I have to end my travel month with a Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island Review. First I will share my outfits from the trip (you may have seen on Instagram). Scroll to the bottom of you would like to skip straight to my guide and review.

Location/Transportation: The Sonesta Resort is located on the south end of Hilton Head Island. There are a couple of ways to get to the resort. You could fly into Hilton Head airport, I’ve never done this because it’s a small airport and expensive. The other option is to fly into the Savannah/Hilton Head airport. The Savannah/Hilton Head airport is about 45 minutes to an hour away from the Sonesta. Once you get to the property of the Sonesta, you will see that it’s tucked away and right next to Van Der Meer Tennis Academy!
Décor: I am a color lover. The Sonesta’s signature colors are orange and cream. When entering the lobby, everything is orange and cream. It’s perfect for an island destination. The outside pool is surrounded by orange umbrellas for you to relax under and get away from the sun.
Grounds: The grounds at the Sonesta are beautiful! It really is a resort and gives you that oasis feeling. One of my favorites parts is the turtle beach. I wish my photo was better. The little lagoon area of the resort is home to dozens of turtles. There are daily feedings everyday at 1pm. There are also hammocks throughout the entire property, firepits and cabanas by the pool.
Room: We stayed in a Garden View room which you could see the pool area from our balcony.
Pools: There are 2 pools at the Sonesta. The first is the shade pool which also has a Jacuzzi. As its name states, this pool has an indoor/outdoor feel which is a great option if it rains. The other pool is a zero-entry lagoon swimming pool
Beach: If you love the beach and the pool then the Sonesta is the perfect destination for you. The beach is just steps away from the property.
Food: There are a couple of places for dining/drinks located in the resort: Heyward’s, Seacrest Terrace and Patio, Bayley’s Bar and Terrace, Sweet Cane Bar and Grille and Sandbar at Marker 72. Our first day we had room service for breakfast and it was so good. I ordered fresh fruit with my oatmeal and it was so sweet. For lunch we ate at Seacrest Terrace and Patio. I ordered the New England Clam Chowder (yes even in the summer) and the Artisan Chopped Salad. My mom ordered the same soup and BBQ wings. For dinner we had the seafood buffet at Heyward’s. Everything was so good but my favorite was definitely the penne pasta. Oh and we can’t forget about the traditional low country boil! The last day we had the breakfast buffet at Heyward’s. Heyward’s also gives you the option to order off of the menu.
Spa: The spa at the Sonesta is BEAUTIFUL! It’s called Arum Spa and I cannot say enough great things about my experience. While I was there I booked a full body massage and facial. Be sure to get to your appointment half an hour early. This is when you will fill out the questionnaire regarding your skin. While you wait, you can also enjoy a cocktail of an infused champagne or infused water. Of course I chose the champagne. When my masseuse was getting ready for me I was given a hot compress around my neck along with soaking my feet in a warm salt bath.
Staff: The staff and service was EXCELLENT! Even my mom said something. The manager Chris, whom I met last year made a point to greet us upon arriving. He even sent up a note and a bottle of wine and snacks compliments of the resort. After that the service kept getting better and better. Everyone referred to me as “Miss Janae”, they checked on us plenty of times ensuring all reservations were taken care of. Even my off sight contact was texting me making sure everything was perfect. Each day/night we went out to eat, a manager came to introduce themselves to us. There was even one night when my earring broke and one of the cooks fixed it for me. Talk about A plus service!
Conclusion: If you could not tell by all of the above we had an amazing time! I highly recommend staying here if you are ever in the Hilton Head area. It truly is a great place to relax and unwind while receiving the best customer service around!
Last thing, I want to send a huge thank you to my assistant on the trip…my mom! It was a struggle at times but she took many of the photos of me and I’m very thankful for that (even if I am bossy 😉 ).
Thanks for reading!
