What to wear to Disney World. Two things come to mind whenever I am going somewhere: being stylish/cute and being comfortable. The latter is crucial anytime you go to a theme park. Since it is Disney I always feel the need to step it up a bit in the fashion department. I can’t have Minnie Mouse catching me slipping! With our 2024 trip being over already I want to share the outfits I wore and give you some tips to help you feel comfy and stylish for your next Disney trip and beyond.
Hard truth: packing can be a pain…especially if you have no plan for what you are wearing while on your trip. Luckily I made this post to help ease that frustration. Even if you don’t have an iPhone, taking photos of what you plan on wearing each day during your trip is super helpful and will help avoid overpacking. Obviously my theme for the outfits was Disney so I took photos of the outfits I wanted to wear including my travel outfits and some non park outfits as well.
What should I wear to Disney World?
Now I’m speaking to the ladies here although guys you can take notes as well. You want to wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather. I think no matter the time of year you go to Disney it is usually warm to hot. Maybe in those more mild months (November-March) bring a denim jacket or cardigan just in case. So yes you want to wear weather appropriate clothes and clothes that are comfortable because you will be doing A LOT of walking. This of packing and wearing:
- T-shirts or tank tops
- Leggings
- Biker Short
- Denim shorts or athleisure/lightweight shorts (think linen, nylon, or cotton, something breathable)
- Lightweight dresses or Athletic dresses
- Skorts
- Jeans or comfy pants (cooler months)
- Denim or lightweight jacket (cooler months)
- Jumpsuits or rompers
- SNEAKERS (not just any sneaker but a cross trainer or running shoe)
- Comfortable supportive walking sandals (definitely not flip flops)
- Belt bag or sling bag
Best shoes for Disney
Considering that you will spend most of your time at the parks walking, you definitely want to put your best foot(wear) forward…see what I did there? Anyway as I said above I only brought 3 pairs of shoes with me for our week long trip. For park days I wore my New Balance 327s and On Cloud 5 running shoes. I made the mistake one year of trying to be too cutesy year and wore Converse. DO NOT RECOMMEND lol
- Sneakers (cross trainers or running sneakers)
- Comfortable sandals with straps and that are supportive
What to pack/wear for my non Disney park days?
There will be a day or two (or more) that you don’t go to the parks. On those days my family opted for the pool, shopping or lounging (or dinner) but I stayed true to my Disney themed looks.
Not pictured, I did pack one lightweight black maxi dress just in case we went out to dinner but I’m so proud that I only packed 3 pairs of shoes! FYI, my hubs had more shoes than I did (that’s a first).
What accessories or extras should I wear?
We all know that accessories are like the icing on the cake, the period to complete the sentence. They tend to take your outfit up a notch especially if you are looking for something to finish your look.
- Minnie/Mickey Mouse Ears (headband) – I did not go a day without a pair on. I even wanted to wear mine in the airport but the hubs said I was being super extra lol. I have quite a collection and you can buy them (for cheaper) on Amazon, the Disney Store, the parks or if you are staying off property, many of the larger grocery stores like Publix sells them and so much more Disney merch.
- Hats – Hats will be your best friend in the parks especially on the super hot days. I love a bucket hat moment but a baseball cap or visor with an adjustable strap for added security is your best bet. If you are not into the mouse headbands or they are uncomfortable you can always opt for a Minnie or Mickey Mouse ears hat for maximum cuteness.
- Socks – I know they are not for everyone but I loved wear scrunchy socks with my sneakers. Personally I had no issues with blistering or my feet hurting verses how my feet could have felt without wearing socks. My mom couldn’t understand how my feet weren’t hot lol.
- Backpacks – Having 2 kids a backpack is part of my everyday. Backpacks are great to have at a park since they hold so much and are functional leaving you handsfree.
- Poncho – Florida is a tropical place so there can be sporadic times of rain at any moment. It’s always a good idea to have a poncho on hand. Be sure to bring them with you to the park because otherwise you will be paying like $40.
