Happy Friday! I’d like to say I’m giving y’all what you want by sharing my wash n go routine. Looking at my blog analytics, my natural hair posts and the natural hair products I use have been my most searched. Seeing as my last product post was in April of last year it was definitely time for an update. That being said most of the products have stayed the same with the addition of a couple new ones so here we go.
Products To Wash/Condition/Deep Condition
Since Natur-all fell in my lap last year I’ve been hooked! I’m a huge fan of their avocado line and I reviewed the full line here. I start off by washing my hair with the shampoo and then conditioning. The conditioner has great slip which helps with the detangling process. This is when I will start to detangle my hair. After it’s detangled I’ll add in my deep conditioner.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT MY DEEP CONDITIONER IS NOT PICTURED BECAUSE I RAN OUT. I USE THE NATURAL AVOCADO DRY HAIR SOLUTION OR HASK KERATIN PROTEIN TREATMENT.*
If I’m ever in a pinch and run out of deep conditioner I just add a second conditioner that I love like this Carol’s Daughter Curl Quenching Conditioner, and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Once that time is up, I rinse out that majority of the conditioner and then it’s time to start the styling process.
Products After Conditioning/Deep Conditioning
*PLEASE NOTE THAT IN PLACE OF THESE ITEMS I USE MOUSSE DEF TEXTURE FOAM BUT I RAN OUT*
As stated above, instead of using these products my Mousse Def does the trick as an all-in-one. I just ran out so it’s not pictured but you can read all about it in this post.
First I section my hair and apply a generous amount of my leave-in conditioner to each section. Next I put in a quarter size of the Jane Carter Elongating Gel into each section. The key to a good wash n go is to saturate your hair with product (water based products). Once my hair is saturated I will either let it air dry (takes forever lol) or I will diffuse it.
When I start off diffusing my hair I hold the diffuser on each section for about 10 seconds. I also make sure I flip my head over to get more volume. Once my hair doesn’t feel soaked and is more on the damp side I start my stretching process.
A trick I use for stretching out my hair to get less shrinkage is to pull on the section I am drying. I take the diffuser down each part of the hair from root to end. Make sure you are gentle because you don’t want to create frizz. Once I’m done I will mist my hair with the Jane Carter Curl Elixir and that’s it.
Here is the finished product. My hair isn’t 100% dry here because as long as I don’t have anywhere to be I usually let my hair air dry. I only use the diffuser to help stretch out my curls. I notice when I don’t do my stretching method that my hair shrinks about 2-3 inches higher. Day 1 hair is never anyones favorite but the stretching method makes it more bearable.
Hope this helps and answers any of your questions. If it doesn’t don’t hesitate to reach out.
