One Dress Five Ways

One Dress Five Ways

In today’s tutorial, I’m showing how you can wear an LBD (Little Black Dress) multiple ways.  I know many of my friends and people in general are guilty of feeling they have nothing to wear, when in actuality you need to think of interesting ways to remix what you already have.  These outfits also are great for work but I’ve listed some alternative options to dress them down more.

1. As a Skirt

Try adding a shirt over the dress and wear the dress as a skirt.  To make sure I did’t loose my shape and make the outfit look frumpy, I tied a belt around my waist to keep the shape.  The shirt you decide to put over top of the dress does not have to be a collard shirt.  It could be a sweater, t-shirt or tank top.  Just make sure that you don’t loose your shape in the process.

2. With a Blazer (or cardigan)

Once again, for a more casual look, this could be worn with ballet flats or boots.  Either way, this outfit would be perfect for a day in the office.  *Style tip: try adding a skinny belt over a longer blazer or cardigan to accentuate your waistline.*

3. With a Shirt Underneath

Layering a shirt, whether collared or a t-shirt, creates a different look for the dress.  It could either dress the look up or dress it down.  I chose an office appropriate look for the above outfit.  *Style tip: if the shirt underneath is creating unwanted lines, put a camisole over top of it in between the dress and the shirt you are wearing underneath.*

4. Casual with boots and a T-Shirt

Not everyone is keen to heels (like myself) so wearing this dress with boots or even sneakers is always an option as well.  Once again, be sure that you smooth out the shirt you wear underneath to prevent looking frumpy.

5. By Itself

You can wear the dress by itself but I guarantee you will look and feel plain (if that’s the look you are going for then work it).  I chose to add a pop of color with orange being the accent color.  I also added some bold accessories with this bauble necklace from J.C. Penney’s and leopard belt from Body Central.  For a more casual look, try wearing some cute ballet flats instead.
